JC Bowers Landscaping & Tree Services is looking for a skilled professional to fill our Salesperson and Account Leader (Landscape/Hardscape/Tree Services) position in North San Diego County.
This position requires a seasoned and successful salesperson designing and selling residential/commercial landscape, hardscape and tree care services. This person should have a distinct ability and passion to understand customers' needs and deliver solutions that meet those needs while keeping focus on the customer. This person spends the majority of their time talking and meeting with customers to develop relationships, sell projects and verify customer satisfaction. They will also be responsible for contract administration including estimates, proposals, contracts, invoicing, change orders, and project follow-up.
You will need to be a dynamic and motivated self-starter who is capable of working both alone and with a team. Extensive horticulture knowledge and exemplary customer service and sales skill are required of this position.
Essential Responsibilities
Lead Development:
- Develop relationships with current customers and potential customers within specific territory and channel to progress sales leads
- Displays a passion for landscaping and a sense of enthusiasm that can be conveyed to potential customers
- Utilize any and all marketing tools such as catalogs, brochures and vendor collateral to broaden reach in territory and promote company services
- Research and analyze customer needs and demands based on market information
- Joins and participates in extracurricular activities and professional networking groups in order to promote the company
- Attends trade shows and homes shows to promote the company
- Generates new sales leads from networking opportunities
- Meets and conducts initial interviews with prospective customers
- Maintains relationships with previous customers by means of phone and email communication at specified intervals
Design/Sales:
- Performs detailed site analysis for prospective jobs
- Demonstrate clear, concise, and professional communication as point of contact for existing customers and new leads regarding property needs via email, phone, and CRM system
- Create/coordinate CAD landscape design renderings for commercial and residential customers to serve as visualization for scope of work
- Independently and collaboratively create landscape/hardscape designs that meet customer goals and objectives
- Knowledge of all processes required to complete a landscape project
- Knowledge of current and potential costs of materials and equipment rental rates
- Quote prices, produce estimates/proposals and prepare sales contracts for customer orders based upon accurate cost/hours/square footages that are complete and easy to understand
- Estimate date of delivery to customer, based on knowledge of company’s delivery schedules
- Ensures all job notes are accurately prepared for smooth transition to Project Crews
- Follows up with customer post-sale to do a walk-through of the job to ensure customer is satisfied
- Participate in weekly Sales and Accounts Receivable meetings
Project Oversight:
- Maintains excellent communication with the customer throughout project
- Coordinates the launch of new projects with Project Management and Crew Foremen
- Coordinates with Project Management and Crew Foremen regarding scheduling, plant/material ordering, installation performance and customer satisfaction
- Communicates with the Project Manager and Crew Foremen to reviews jobs as needed, including job site visits, to ensure the customer’s expectations are met
- Attend on-site meetings and convey updated information to the responsible crew regarding add-ons, change orders, etc.
- Visits job site and meets with customer during project to ensure customer satisfaction
- Provide account management of projects from start to finish
Administrative:
- Utilizes company CRM software to log all activity with prospects and customers following company protocol
- Keeps company calendar, leads, estimates and proposals updated within company CRM software
Education and/or Experience:
- Green industry degree (horticulture, landscape architecture, landscape design) is preferred but not required if equivalent experience exists
- Minimum of 3 years of related Green industry sales experience; natural stone, hardscaping, landscaping or tree services with proven ability to meet sales goals and objectives
- Knowledge and experience with plants, hardscape materials, drainage, irrigation, lighting and architectural features for our region of California
- Experience using computer aided design (VizTerra) for landscaping is preferred, but not required
- Excellent computer skills and proficiency in basic computer programs such as Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.
- Certified Horticulturist preferred.
- Certified Arborist preferred.

Compensation:
- Compensation for the position is a 100% commission with total first year earnings estimated at $75,000 - $125,000 per year based upon performance.
- All business-related expenses, including travel, will be fully reimbursed.
